The feedback from trainees attending conventional 5 day classroom-based courses typically include the following comments:

  • “The 5 day course was too short” but “we are too busy to be away from the office for more than 5 days!”.
  • “There was not enough time to practice what you have taught us”.
  • “We would like you to teach us using our own data”.

The solution could be to try a “Flipped Classroom”

What we are proposing at Geolumina is a combination of eLearning, to gain the fundamental background knowledge, and a 5-day classroom-based workshop to apply what you have learned.

For example, in the case of Geological Interpretation of Wireline Logs, trainees would be offered:

  • eLearning: Access to the online content of the eLearning course modules, to enable them to establish the basic background Knowledge, for example, rock properties, the drilling and logging processes, tool theory, familiarisation with intrepretational methods, and a chance to  test your knowledge using quizzes.
  • Classroom Practice:  5 full days of hands-on problem solving, working with real datasets, using industry-standard software.  Trainees could work on datasets supplied by us, or work on their own data.  The key is that 5 days would be spent on applying and developing the practical Skills, with the instructor on hand to answer any queries, just when you need it.

Is that something that would interest you?
