This is an application that will capture the causal relationships between the the components of the natural geological systems that we study.  For example, it is critical that we not only understand the components of a petroleum system (reservoir, source, seal and trap), but also their interdependence. In the example illustrated we are interested in determining the controls on porosity.

The aim is to ensure that the implications of any discovery in one part of the system are cascaded through the system to all the other dependent components.
